gillianGillian Shippey has been practicing yoga for 18 years and teaching since 2000. She started her training in India (Krishnmacharya Yoga Mandiram), where she received many months of daily one to one tuition.

After training as a dancer, Gillian went on to qualify to teach Dynamic Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga, Birth Preparation with Yoga, Baby Yoga and Womb Yoga and is now a qualified Yoga Therapist. She has also studied Vedic Chanting (at KYM) as has completed several mindfulness courses.

She has taught people in their first and last weeks of life, as well as professional dancers (Phoenix Dance Theatre and Carte Blanche, Norway’s national contemporary dance company). She very much believes in tailor making a practice for the individual.

Gillian’s own experience of life threatening illness (a brain haemorrhage in 2006) and consequential surgery has guided her towards practicing with integrity with the purpose of rediscovering deep peace, joy and wellness.

She is currently relocating to Hebden Bridge with her small son and is looking forward to setting up several specialist classes for small groups. She will continue to run her Bingley Well Woman yoga class, as well as classes and workshops in Leeds and retreats in Cumbria.
